Community Living Kincardine & District is preparing to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day tomorrow on Tuesday, March 21st.

Its the day when they ask everyone to wear their brightest, most colourful socks and start a conversation.

Catherine Evans, Communications and Marketing Coordiantor tells us why socks were chosen for World Down Syndrome Day.

“So socks were chosen because if you take 2 socks, and place them heel to heel, they resemble a chromosome. Down Syndrome is the result of a person being born with an extra chromosome. They are born with 3 instead of 2.”

The community is voting on Lots of Socks displays currently in the front windows of area businesses with it set to close tomorrow at noon.
