The Port Elgin Off-Leash Dog Park will soon be renamed after its late founder.
Saugeen Shores Council approved a recommendation made at Monday’s Committee of the Whole meeting to rename the dog park the Abby Bolton Memorial Off-Leash Dog Park.
Mayor Luke Charbonneau says it was Bolton’s hard work that made the dog park possible.
Charbonneau says there will be some improvements made to the dog park and signage created, then they hope to have an official unveiling sometime in the new year.
Bolton first pitched the idea of an off-leash dog park to be built on a decommissioned landfill site 15 years ago.
She died last year at the age of 57.
