The Seaforth Community Hospital has reopened their emergency room this morning after some overnight closures on the weekend, but their inpatient unit remains closed after a COVID-19 outbreak was declared.
The outbreak was first announced on Saturday.
The inpatient unit is now closed to admissions until further notice and family and caregiver visits will be restricted, with the only exception being for palliative patients at end of life.
The Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance says they’re working with the local health unit to conduct tracing and notify patients, family, caregivers and team members that may be affected.
The emergency department has returned to 24-hour operation. It was temporarily closed on Saturday night after 9 p.m. and on Sunday night after 5 p.m. due to staffing shortages.
