Beginning today, the province of Ontario is expanding eligibility for second booster doses of COVID-19 vaccine to all residents aged 18 and over. The expanded eligibility comes in response to a seventh wave of COVID-19, driven by the BA.5 subvariant of Omicron.
Huron Perth Public Health (HPPH) has scheduled additional COVID-19 vaccination clinics in the next two weeks and will continue to offer clinics over the summer. You can find a list of local clinics here.
Dr. Miriam Klassen, Medical Officer of Health for Huron Perth is encouraging those most at risk such as with a compromised immune system to book and receive their second booster dose. Klassen says that vaccine boosters provide additional protection after immunity decreases, especially for those who are more vulnerable to severe illness.
Book your appointment for an HPPH clinic by calling their booking line at 1-833-753-2098 between 9 am to 3:30 pm Monday to Friday. You can also call the provincial vaccine contact centre or book online by visiting here.
COVID-19 vaccinations are also still available through some pharmacies and primary care providers.
