More staffing shortages are leading to a reduction of hours at more local emergency departments in hospitals across Huron Perth.

The St Mary’s Memorial Hospitals Emergency Department will close at 5pm on Friday July 22nd, reopening Saturday morning from 7am-5pm then closing.

Regular 24 hours of operation will continue at 7am on July 24th.

The Seaforth Community Hospital will also close its emergency department at 5pm on Friday, then return to 24/7 service starting at 7am on Saturday.

In a release, President and CEO of the Huron-Perth Healthcare Alliance, Andrew Williams says the decision to reduce hours, while difficult is the most responsible decision they can make.
