The Goderich Port welcomed its first vessel of the year, the Federal Asahi.
An event held earlier this morning dubbed the Top Hat Ceremony marked the continued tradition to start the shipping season in town.
The vessel arrived to the Goderich Port to load corn. Goderich Mayor Trevor Bazinet says the boost this provides for the town and act as an attraction for tourists is invaluable to the town and is a great sight to see.
“People pay attention to this stuff when a vessel comes into the port and especially during the tourist season when you can walk out to the pier and be as close as you are to a vessel. It is remarkable.” said Bazinet.
The Top Hat Ceremony has been celebrated in Goderich to mark the first vessel to arrive in town for over 90 years.
