Feds invest $35 Million in Indigenous Partnership with Bruce Power to Fight Cancer

The Federal Government has teamed up with Indigenous Partners, Bruce Power and the medical isotope community to provide $35 million dollars in funding to fight cancer.

It will bolster a partnership between the Saugeen Ojibway Nation and Bruce Power in a revolutionary cancer-fighting medical isotope production system.

Mike Rencheck, Bruce Power President &CEO says they are honoured to partner with Saugeen Ojibway Nation to market isotope production and they thank the federal government for its support in leveraging this historical opportunity.

The funding was made possible through Innovation, Science and Economic Development’s Strategic Innovation Fund, which provides major investments in innovative projects that will help grow Canada’s economy for the well-being of all Canadians.

The Partnership between Bruce Power & the Saugeen Ojibway Nation started in 2019 with the first-of-its kind Isotope Production System installed at Bruce Power in 2022.
