The First Responder’s Food and Toy Drive collected over 3,000 lbs of food and $5,000 worth of donations in Saugeen Shores this weekend.
Emergency services workers were out at four locations around Port Elgin and Southampton on Saturday, collecting items for the local food bank. Crews collected from Vanderwerf’s Independent, Canadian Tire, Walmart and Foodland from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
They also collected tons of toys to give back to local families in need. In total, 3064 lbs of food was collected and $5640 in cash and gift cards was collected.
