United Way Bruce Grey says the struggles of hunger continue to be on the rise and local food services are struggling themselves to meet the increase demand.

As the holiday season approaches, OSHaRE, the Salvation Army Owen Sound, and United Way are struggling to support families and individuals facing food insecurity and more are expected to turn for help.

Francesca Dobbyn, Executive Director for United Way Bruce Grey says hunger is an income issue and too many individuals simply cannot make ends meet and the community is facing a crisis.

Area meal programs have risen 30 per cent from 2023.
