Saugeen First Nation will be holding events all throughout tomorrow in honour of National Truth and Reconciliation Day.

First, there will be a formal ceremony at G.C. Huston Public school starting around 9 a.m. where there will be an unveiling of an Orange crosswalk. There will also be a renewal ceremony at the Southampton bridge at 11 a.m. that morning.

Events start on Saugeen First Nation around noon, where there will be a mini powwow, sharing circles, music and an opportunity to honour survivors of residential schools, as well as youth.

Advocacy for healing coordinator, Lori Kewaquom says the day about more than just wearing an Orange Shirt, it’s about reflecting on what actions you can take as an individual to help your community and the youth of the future.
