Gastrointestinal Outbreak Declared at Seaforth Hospital

The Huron-Perth Healthcare Alliance has declared a gastrointestinal outbreak at the Seaforth Community Hospital.

The outbreak is affecting the inpatient unit which causes an infection in the stomach and intestines and is not caused by the influenza virus.

Erica Jensen, Manager of Quality, Patient Safety and Infection Control says in response they are reminding everyone to clean their hands upon entering and exiting the hospital, patient care areas and patient rooms.

The unit is closed to admissions until further notice.
