The Town of Goderich Council has appointed Councillor Leah Noel to its vacant position of Deputy Mayor.

The decision was made in a recorded vote during its meeting last Monday, September 25th.

It was a unanimous vote in support of her appointment.

Councillor Randy Carroll spoke to why he supported appointment.

“I think we can all agree that we need to move on and take the next step of filling the vacated council seat, get back to focusing on the issues at hand, our strategic plan and its deliverables. It’s my opinion that the taxpayers of Goderich will be better served by appointing from within that looking at other ways.”

Deputy Mayor Noel assumes the position effective immediately and will hold it for the remaining duration of the current council term.
