Goderich Minor Hockey hands out Awards at Event on April 21st

Awards recognize both individual and teamwide accomplishments from throughout the season and also recognize those that made a contribution to hockey in Goderich.

Goderich Minor Hockey announced that they have handed out their Annual Awards at an event held on April 21st.

Recipients of awards included the Wolterbeek Family Award being given to upstanding members of the community for their involvement. The award was given to the Goderich Lions Club.

The Doug Cruickshank Memorial Award is presented annual to a coach and bench staff for outstanding contributions to the development of hockey in Goderich. It was given this year to the U11 Lions Rep Team with Kalen Carroll, Ben Craig, Paul Gill, Brad Powell and Barb Nivins-Zondag.

The Past Presidents Award is given each year to an individual who makes an outstanding contribution to the Goderich Minor Hockey organization. This year’s recipient was Ian Karges.

The Donald C. Johnston Memorial Award, which is given to a group or individual for their commitment, dedication and years of service to the game of hockey in Goderich was given to Mike McBride.

The Ed Ervine Memorial Volunteer Award is given to someone who has gone above and beyond the call of duty for Goderich Minor Hockey and this year’s recipient were Brandon & Tara Corriveau.

The Mark Rae Mathers Memorial Award is awarded to U18 players who exhibit outstanding defensive ability and this year’s recipients were Gryffin Langis and Brady Fraser.

The Ed Ervin Memorial Award is given to the most dedicated U15 players. This years winners were the U15 Marcc Apparel Team.

The Greg “Sporty ” DeWinter Award is given to one U11 Atom player on each team having the “sporty” spirit. This is a person who is a great friend, teammate and player who works hard each shift. This year’s recipients were Bronson Swan, Eric Steadman and Emily Blackmore.

The Terry Bean Award is given to a goalie who is the most dedicated.  This year’s recipients were William Armstong and Eric Volland (who was absent).

The Vic Whetstone Memorial Award is given to the most dedicated U13 player. This year’s recipient was William Carmichael.

The Gerry Fritzley Memorial Trophy is awarded to a U13 goalie for outstanding effort. Benson Hogan was this years recipient.

The Paul Rivers Memorial Award is given to a U9 player who exhibits personality, dedication, and perseverance. This year’s recipient was Weston Powell.

And the Jared Fisher Memorial Award is given to a U18 player who through dedication, personality and enthusiasm during their minor hockey years has displayed the quality of good citizenship. This year’s award winners are Owen McGee and Evan Beddow.
