Goderich Switches Bulk Item Pickup to Set Days Each Year

Changes from Weekly Occurrence to just 4 Times Per Year with Acceptable and Non-Acceptable Items

The Town of Goderich has announced new rules when it comes to the pickup of bulk items as part of their waste collection. Weekly curbside pickup of bulk items stopped as of November 1st.

Now these items will be picked up 4 times a year on pre-scheduled days.

There is a maximum of 6 bulk items per household per scheduled bulk item collection day.

The dates remaining this year are Monday, November 15th and Monday, December 13th.

The dates for 2022 along with the list of acceptable and un-acceptable types of items are below.

  • Monday, September 12, 2022
  • Monday, December 12, 2022
Acceptable Items:
  • Artificial Christmas Trees
  • Beds
  • Mattresses
  • Blinds
  • Box Springs
  • Carpeting/Linoleum (tie and bundle, no more than 5 feet in length and less than 100)
  • Chairs
  • Corrugated Plastic Signs
  • Dressers
  • Game Tables
  • Infant Car Seats
  • Lamps
  • Large Plastic Household Items
  • Large Plastic Toys
  • Suitcases, Trunks and Chests
  • Outdoor Plastic Furniture
  • Wooden Items
  • Patio Umbrellas
  • Plastic Auto Parts
  • Plastic Pails, Buckets, Cans and Baskets
  • Plastic Coolers
  • Plastic Lawn Edging
  • Plastic Pet Carriers
  • Plastic Shelving Units
  • Plastic Storage Containers
  • Sofas
  • Sports Equipment Items
  • Strollers and Other Baby Gear
  • Tables
  • Toilets and sinks have been added to the list (base must be separated).

Unacceptable Items:
  • Items over weight (100 pounds) like pool tables, piano, cast iron,
  • Items with exposed nails
  • Unwrapped broken glass/mirrors
  • Mixed piles of unbundled or loose garbage
  • Recyclable items for blue box
  • Medical Waste (syringes, needles, medicine)
  • Construction & demolition waste
  • Air Conditioners and Dehumidifiers
  • Fences posts or railway ties
  • Electronic Waste
  • Hazardous Waste (chemicals, paints, etc.)
  • Propane Tanks
  • Tires
  • Tree stumps
  • Concrete and Bricks
  • Automobile Parts
  • Batteries
  • Any liquids
