As the Town of Goderich mourns the loss of Mayor John Grace, members of council say there’s no plan yet for how his position will be filled for the duration of the term.
Deputy Mayor Myles Murdoch says that determination will be made at their August 22 council meeting.
“Our procedural by-law allows the deputy mayor to do administrative functions while the mayor is away,” says Murdock. “That’s what I’m doing now and I’ll be the spokesperson for council until a new head of council is determined.”
The municipal election will be held October 24. So far, the late Grace is the only candidate to file nomination papers for the mayor’s seat.
