Grey Bruce Health Services Staff Member Wins Weightlifting Competition

They say Doug Metherel started lifting for a few years in his youth, then got back into it at age 46.

The Grey Bruce Health Services took to social media today to recognize one of their staff members for an Impressive Accomplishment in Sport.

Maintenance Worker, Doug Metherel, who works at the Owen Sound Hospital was able to lift 320 pounds over his head to win first place for his age at the Master Weightlifting competition in late April in St. Thomas.

Doug has worked at the hospital as a plumber for 15 years.

They say he started lifting for a few years in his youth, then got back into it at age 46.

Doug won first place in the 55 to 59 year age division, 96 kiligram bodyweight class.

The GBHS team say they are very proud of his accomplishment.
