Grey Bruce OPP charge Hamilton resident after Used Car Fraud in Meaford Thursday

Police first responded around 7:51 am, to a vehicle in a ditch on Grey Road 7 in Meaford and then other calls for service involving the same vehicle.

Grey Bruce OPP have charged a 27-year-old male of Hamilton with fraud charges related to a series of transactions.

On Thursday morning, around 7:51 am, officers responded to a vehicle in a ditch on Grey Road 7 in Meaford.

As the day went on, officers responded to other calls for service involving the same vehicle.

It was discovered that the vehicle had been sold via what is believed to be a fraudulent transaction using an online buy and sell site.

The OPP identified the accused, and they were arrested around 5pm the same day.

He has been charged with 2 counts of fraud over $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime.

The accused has been released and set to appear at an Owen Sound court at a later date.
