The Grey Bruce region has seen a bump in COVID-19 cases over the past week.

On the weekend, there were 13 new cases reported on Saturday and 16 more on Sunday.

The health unit says one trend they have identified is the number of cases among individuals under 18 years of age in organized sports.

Another trend is transmission occurring at schools and childcare settings where the infected individual is showing symptoms.

For the moment, the health unit isn’t suggesting imposing restrictions.

They say there is no evidence that transmissions are happening in the region in places like grocery, and small and big-box retail stores, and hospitals.

Medical Officer of Health Dr. Ian Arra says it is a matter of keeping people isolated at home if they are showing symptoms.

He says they would rather not shut anything down and allow things to remain open as long it is safe to do so.
