Home & Community Support Services Grey-Bruce issued an urgent appeal for volunteers as it readies to expand services.
The most urgent need is for volunteer drivers to support area seniors & people with disabilities to get them to surgeries, medical appointments, respite services & grocery shopping.
They say they have had to decline many ride requests to vulnerable seniors due to a shortage of drivers.
They say before the pandemic they had over 100 volunteer drivers, but now that number is down to 55, cutting their transportation capacity in half.
Drivers are reimbursed mileage for their service.
