Huron County OPP have charged a London resident with assaulting an officer after a R.I.D.E. stop turned ugly earlier this morning.
At around 12:20 a.m., officers conducted a check at the intersection of Blyth Road and Brussels Line in Walton.
Police spoke to a driver of an SUV that entered the check and observed evidence of alcohol consumption within the vehicle.
The man provided a breath sample which resulted in a fail. As he was being placed under arrest, police say the man became verbally abusive toward officers. They then allege that he kicked two officers while wearing steel-toed boots.
The officers reported minor injuries.
The 34-year-old was charged with two counts of assaulting an officer and impaired operation, among others.
The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for March in Goderich.
