A busy labour day weekend for Huron County OPP who took part in their annual Labour Day Holiday Long Weekend Traffic Campaign.

Police were out from August 30th-September 2nd with a focus put on the “Big Four” including distracted driving, impaired driving, speeding and seat belt use.

OPP spent the weekend on the roadways, patrolling the water and on foot taking in the many events going on across the community.

A total of 216 charges were laid over the campaign which included; 

–       Speeding – 149 charges,

–      Seatbelt non-compliance – 12 charges,

–      Impaired Operation – 5 charges,

–      Stunt Driving – 3 charges,

–      Insurance infractions – 10 charges,

–      Other Criminal Code Traffic Offence – 1 charge,

–      Other Provincial Offences – 36 charges,

74 warnings were also issued.
