The Huron County OPP, along with local community partners are promoting a campaign to increase public awareness about the Good Samaritan Drug Overdose Act.

The act provides some legal protection for people who seek help during an overdose, even if the person has taken drugs or has drugs on them.

Jason Younan Detachment Commander for the Huron County OPP says that the impact of the opioid crisis continues to be devastating and they are hoping the awareness campaign will remind and reinforce the message that if you see an overdoes call 911, seek life saving assistance and stay with the victim. The Good Samaritan Drug Overdose Act can protect you.

The campaign also encourages community members to get a Naloxone kit to prevent opioid overdose deaths.
