A strike could come with Huron County paramedics who have voted overwhelming in favour in their first ever strike vote.
CUPE 4513’s 112 paramedics voted to reflect a list of issues members are facing who as CUPE says deals with stagnating wages, increased pressures on the emergency medical service and growing population.
Kelsy Long, a 14 year paramedic and President with CUPE 4513 says no paramedic wants a strike saying they need a sustainable service that can meet the communities needs while taking care of the people who provide that care.
In a release, CUPE says since 2016, members have received only $6 in wage increases while inflation over the same period reached 28.84 per cent.
Both sides return to the bargaining table on November 23rd and 24th.
