North Huron and Huron East have a new fire chief, as one of their own returns to the community to take over the role.

The Municipality of Huron East and the Township of North Huron jointly announced the hiring of Kent Readman as their new Fire Chief on a shared service agreement between the two.

Readman will take the position on Dec. 6. He has 20 years of experience in volunteer fire service and served as Fire Chief for Dryden and Kenora over the past five years.

Readman was part of the North Huron department until 2015 when he left to further advance his goal of becoming a chief.

They say he will work closely with retiring Fire Chief Marty Bedard next month to ensure a smooth transition of the department.

He is also active as a Director on the Ontario Association of Fire Chief’s Board of Directors and has roots in Huron County.
