The Huron County OPP say a recent fraud attempt was interrupted on March 13th thanks from the help of a concerned citizen.
Police were contacted by an employee of a local business who was concerned for an elderly area resident.
They attended her residence and explained the concerns that someone may be defrauding her.
The resident explained they were just contacted by a female purporting to be a bank employee arranging a taxi to take her to the grocery store to buy 2 pre-paid VISA cards worth $1,000 each.
The guise of the scam was a bank investigation into employees giving out clients’ personal info.
Although the woman lost the $2,000 police were able to intercept a subsequent call where the scammers were requesting an additional $3,000.
