Huron East victim loses over $100,000 in Crypto Currency Scam

Police were contacted by the victim on September 14th who reported losing the money in an internet investment scam between July and September.

The Huron OPP is investigating a recent report of fraud in Huron East. The victim reported a total loss in the fraud of $100,000.

Police were contacted by the victim on September 14th who reported losing the money in an internet investment scam between July and September.

The victim explained they were referred to a cryptocurrency investment website by a person not known to them who made contact by text message initially.

They invested $500 and were promised certain profits on the investment.

They then invested a further $100,000.

The victim sent their money to an internet service which transferred the victim’s money into cryptocurrency.

The fraudster eventually froze the investment and ceased all contact with the victim.

The victim realized they had bene scammed and contacted police.
