The Huron County OPP is reminding vacation property owners to properly secure and check on their sites to help reduce the number of break in’s and thefts.
They urge the removal of all valuable items and alcohol from the premises.
Small appliances and alcohol are often targeted by theses as they are easy to steal and equally easy to sell for cash and drugs.
Homes should be locked and they encourage vacation properties be visited daily during the offseason to ensure everything is secure.
They also urge people living in and around cottages and trailer parks to report all suspicious activity to police immediately.
