The Huron Out of the Cold: Heart to Home Emergency Cold Weather shelter is extending it’s hours.
The shelter, located in Goderich, is expanding their hours so they continue offering guests overnight accommodations, a day use centre and wrap around supports including meals.
Director of Social and Property Services for Huron County, Barbara Hall, says that extending the hours is welcome news particularly in response to current provincial restrictions that have required many businesses to close to the public.
She adds that day use hours ensure washrooms and warm spaces are available to those who may otherwise be forced to face the winter elements.
The Emergency Cold Weather Shelter is located at Lakeshore United Church at 56 North Street in Goderich.
It’s hours are Monday to Friday 9am until noon for day use, closed noon until 2:30pm for cleaning, 2:30 to 5:30 pm for day use (beginning January 12th), 5:30 to 7pm closed for evening setup and open 7 pm until 8 am the next day for overnight guests. No admissions after 10pm.
Saturday to Sunday and Holidays it is open 5pm to 8am for overnight guests. No admissions after 10pm.
