Community Living Kincardine & District saw the recognition of a Kincardine area public school class Tuesday who were the winners of the Inclusion Education Contest. Teacher of the Grade 3 class at Huron Heights Public School Alanna Hageraats-Boucher tells what their entry consisted of.

“We became critical thinkers as we walked around the different spaces in our building that we use. We took a photo and designed some different aspects that might be more inclusive for friends who have some exceptionalities.”

Catherin Evans, Community & Marketing Coordinator says the contest was more than offering a prize to the winner classroom, it was about changing perspectives.

“We want to make sure that the youth are learning about inclusion and celebrating our differences.  We are really happy about all of the schools participating this year and the grade 3 class that submitted the winning entry.”
