The Municipality of Kincardine has continued to keep both North and South Piers at the Waterfront closed to public access.

The closure began on Friday, August 18th due to wave and wind action at the time and followed close behind an incident on August 12th that saw a 66-year-old drown in  the waters at Station Beach.

In terms of why they’ve remained closed it’s a case of planning next steps says Kincardine Director of Community Services Jayne Jagelewski.

“We do need some time to get our recommendations together to council and potentially look at a working group to come up with so me future recommendations for the Municipality.”

The site currently features barriers in place to prevent access. Jagelewski says staff will be presented the report to Council on September 13th.
