Scouts and other youth programming will be returning to Kincardine in the new year, and demand has for the outdoors organization has been wild.
The beavers and cubs programs (for kids aged 5 to 10) already have waitlists, but organizers say they’re still accepting registrations for Scouts before meetings start in January.
One of the organizers, Amanda Saxton, says they have a team of 17 volunteers ready to offer exciting new opportunities in the 2023.
“Our team is very diverse and they’re really passionate about getting outdoors, the environment and all of those wonderful skills we want to teach to the youth,” she says.
“Even things like planning, scouts is all about being youth-led, so the youth are in charge. What do they want to do? How are they going to plan it? What safety do they need to know about? All of those pieces are coming together for this program and we’re just really excited to get back and make those connections with the community.”
Scouts is for kids aged 11 to 14.
Meetings will be held Monday nights from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
