A Kincardine family is happy to have their grandmother for Christmas.

Paulette Raspberry had been looking for a new kidney the last six years.

Her daughter Jenny resorted to putting a message on the family van asking for help finding a suitable donor back in September.

It wasn’t until last week that a donor was found and Paulette had the transplant surgery last Wednesday (15th) to receive the new kidney.

Jenny Raspberry says that message attracted a lot of attention through social media and others.

Jenny says her mother is doing great and her new kidney is functioning.

She says Paulette will be seeing a post-transplant specialist in London for the next six weeks as part of her recovery.

Jenny says the experience has encouraged her to advocate more for organ donation especially kidney donation where living donors are needed.

She says she’s been working with Cathy Pennington on Christopher’s Walk in raising money and awareness for kidney research.
