A local farm lost over $1 million worth of livestock and property after an early morning fire in Central Huron.

Emergency services responded to a call of a barn fire around 1 a.m. today on Cut Line. Crews from Clinton, Blyth and Goderich fire departments all attended, but unfortunately 14 cattle and nine chickens perished in the fire.

Three barns were also destroyed, along with a quantity of straw, feed, and equipment.

Huron County OPP say the cause of the fire is not suspicious and they estimate the losses range between $1-3 million.

The road was closed for about four hours while crews worked.
