A local Huron East Councillor is likely one of the youngest, if not the youngest, in Ontario.

Justin Morrison, who was acclaimed to the Brussels Ward in the recent election is just 18 years old.

He was returned to the role after being appointed to serve out the remainder of the previous term in January.

Morrison says the decision to run for office came in the last year and a half.

“Being out in the community I kind of saw things that might not be right. Being a younger person I don’t have the life experience like many other people. I sought the appointment as a learning opportunity.”

Morrison says right from the start he has seen support everywhere.

“I’ve never felt like an outsider, being with such an age gap, it’s been always such a positive experience. I appreciate all of the support I’ve got and continue to get.”
