There are a number of local field hockey players preparing to represent Ontario at the upcoming National Field Hockey Championships beginning next week in Brampton.

The U18 team takes the field first with 2 players with a Goderich connection; Clara Leduc and Darcie Brohman selected to the Squad.

The U16 team begins their player in 2 weeks with 3 local players; Amelia Bissett, Emmi Coups and Anna Muscat, and start their play against Prince Edward Island.

The rivalries for the Ontario Team is BC. They have a healthy rivalry that should make the play intense.

Coach of both GDCI’s Girl Field Hockey Program and AOS Field Hockey Ray Lewis says it’s the drive that has been behind the naming to the national team.

“For all of them I think it’s their drive. They work out with us, they work out in London on Tuesday nights and they also travel to Toronto for extra training and try-outs as well.”

The schedules are available on the Field Hockey Canada & Ontario websites and their Instagram.
