The local area unemployment rate dropped last month to its lowest level since November of 2022.

The Four County Labour Market Planning Board says the rate across the Stratford-Bruce Peninsula Economic Region was at 3.5 per cent in April. With the overall population growing so did the labour force.

The biggest gains in the work sector were in transportation and warehousing with technical services seeing the largest drop.

Ontario’s unemployment rate increased by 0.1 percentage points to 6.7 per cent.
