According to a report from the Four County Market Planning Board, employment in the service-producing sector dropped by 3,400, the largest monthly decrease seen in the past year.

Major losses were experienced in transportation, warehousing information, culture and recreation.

Overall net employment in the region decreased by 4,500, with 3,800 full-time losses and 700 part-time losses. The local unemployment rate now sits at 4.4 per cent, below the Ontario average of five.
