The unemployment rate has risen to the highest its been in well over a year.
Stats from the Four County Labour Market Planning Board shows the rate within the Stratford-Bruce Peninsula Economic Region went up 1.3 per cent in March, to 5.9 per cent.
Overall net employment in the region increased by 700 with a gain of 1700 full time jobs and loss of 1000 part time.
Gains were seen in the goods producing sector, construction and utilities with some losses seen in manufacturing, agriculture and accommodation and food services.
The province’s unemployment rate rose 0.3 per cent to 5.3 per cent.
