The Maitland Conservation Authority is looking for landowners with properties two acres or more in size interested in planting trees on their property.

The seedlings can be planted on hillsides, floodplains or on marginal farmland.

Planting projects that will connect forest habitat are also being supported through this stewardship initiative.

Shannon Millar, Restoration Specialist with the Authority says there are several grant opportunities available at the moment, so depending on the site it may be 100% funded.

They are pushing to get trees in the ground next spring to continue efforts to naturalize floodplains, reduce soil & nutrient runoff into watercourses and help mitigate the impacts of a changing climate.
