An unhoused man was arrested for breaking and entering, after falling through the ceiling at a Goderich shelter he had been banned from.

On Thursday, Dec. 29 around 10 p.m. Huron County OPP responded to a call at the North Street United Church.

Officers were told by staff that the man had forced his way into the church after previously being banned for behaviour. The man was crawling through the first and second floor ceiling space, before falling through the drywall and getting removed from the property.

Police say they were later able to track down the suspect in town and transport him to the Clinton detachment for processing.

The 32-year-old man has been charged with break and enter, mischief under $5,000 and resisting arrest.

The accused was held for a bail hearing and later remanded into custody.
