A North Huron man is facing a slew of charges following a string of events in Wingham.
Huron County OPP say it started the morning of January 13th around 6:30 when a gas station employee caught a man stealing candy bars inside the store on Kerr Drive.
The alleged thief fled when confronted and ran across the road to another gas station and stole a running vehicle that was left unattended.
He took off heading west on Amberley Road but crashed a short time later while trying to turn onto Augusta Street.
The suspect fled once officers arrived a short time later but was eventually arrested and taken into custody.
A further investigation revealed the accused was showing signs of impairment by drug, was under a probation order, and was prohibited from driving.
The 35-year-old is being held until his next court appearance in Goderich on Friday.
