Saugeen Shores council has approved updates to their Municipal Alcohol Policy, adding more eligible locations for licensed events to help prevent legally liable situations.
The policy was in need of updating after its creation in 2013 and staff said requests to host licenced events at locations that were not included in the previous version reinforced that need.
New locations added include the tiered seating at Plex and Coliseum, the Lamont Sports Park, Lawn Bowling Club, Chantry Centre, Art School and Art Gallery.
Some locations, like Port Elgin Beach, are listed as a result of yearly events that are held there, but Director of Community Services and Operations Kristan Shrider, says a special event permit and liquor license will still be required to imbibe there.
