A private member’s bill has been introduced in the Provincial Legislature to recognize the importance of the medical isotope industry.
The bill was first introduced by Bruce Grey Owen Sound MPP Bill Walker last Thursday.
It calls for the supply of medical isotopes as a key strategic priority for the Province in its health, economic, export, inter-provincial, energy, research and infrastructure planning and policies.
It adds that the Province use its position to be a global leader in medical isotope supply.
In a news release, the Canadian Nuclear Isotope Council calls the motion “historic”.
Chair James Scongack (Bruce Power’s V-P of Operational Services) says it is an opportunity for Ontario to come together and work toward a common goal to help fight cancer and saves lives.
