Heading into the long weekend, Grey Bruce Public Health says the Southampton Beach has been deemed as unsafe for swimming.

This comes after water sampling results showed bacterial levels exceeding Ontario Ministry of Health standards.

The advisory will stay in effect until further samples show levels have returned to an acceptable range for swimming.

Public Health sampled the water at the beach between High Street and Beach Road. Samples will be taken again from the beach early next week.

Further 8 beaches from Huron Perth Public Health have been listed above the advisable swimming limit which includes Amberley Beach, Ashfield Township Park, Port Albert, Goderich Main, Rotary Cove, St Josephs, Haytownship Park and Port Blake.

Resamples will be done later today.
