Around 10,000 fish was lost as a result of what the Municipality of Kincardine say was due to construction work happening along Huron Terrace.

In a news release, Director of Infrastructure and Development Adam Weishar says crews struck a watermain on October 15th resulting in the loss of water supply to the Lake Huron Fishing Club’s fish hatchery.

He says the watermain was not mapped out properly and therefore untraceable.

The watermain has since been repaired and water supply to the hatchery restored.

The consultant and contractor agreed to make amends by donating $2,000 each, and along with the Municipality, the total donation to the Lake Huron Fishing Club was $6,000.
