The Municipality of Brockton received a report at Tuesday’s Council Meeting from Chris Wells, Director of Fire & Emergency Services.
In the report cost recovery of fire protection services was discussed. Currently Brockton does not bill ratepayers for any part of the service.
Addition expenses incurred by the Fire Department are eligible for recovery through the involved property owner’s insurance policy.
Brockton is looking at partnering with Fire Marque, a company that assists municipalities with fire cost recovery from insurance companies.
The Municipality would receive 70% of the funds recovered from the payout from insurance with Fire Marquee retaining 30%.
Municipalities already using this arrangement include Hanover, Arran-Elderslie, South Bruce & South Bruce Peninsula.
