The need for more residential housing is forcing the Municipality of Brockton to request a special Minister’s Zoning Order for lands within the East Ridge Business Park.
The order would fast-track the rezoning of lands under the Municipality’s official plan and zoning by-law.
Mayor Chris Peabody says the municipality, especially in the Walkerton area, is seeing growth with new businesses but there hasn’t been the number of new residential development to accommodate that.
500 new housing units are being planned for the proposed area.
Peabody says he expects to hear back from the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing on this request very soon.
