April 28th will mark the National Day of Moruning.
The day which has been around since the 90’s marks those who have lost their lives and remember those who have been injured at workplaces around the world.
The day is marked by over 100 countries including in Canada.
Dave Trumble, Vice-President for Bruce County Grey-Bruce Labour Council says it is still upsetting to see injuries and workplace deaths taking place.
“Sadly there are workplace cultures that have encouraged this. We often say just because you’ve done it 500 times that way doesn’t mean on the 501st time it’s not going to be the one that really injuries a person, makes them really ill or be a fatality which we still do in Ontario almost everyday because of or in the workplace.” said Trumble.
The council who held an event for the National Day Mourning this morning in Chesley will also be at Hanover Heritage Square on the 28th starting at 11am.
