A new cell tower is being proposed for Kincardine.
An information report was presented by the Municipality at Monday’s Council meeting.
Rogers is planning to install a new 25-metre slimline monopole tower on Broadway Street near Sutton.
The new communications tower is being built under Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada to improve access to updated technology.
The report says the proponent (in this case Rogers Communications) will be leading the consultation process.
Because the height of the tower is less than 30 metres, the Municipality is required to provide mailing addresses of landowners living within 75 metres of the proposed tower.
And because communication towers fall under federal jurisdiction, the Municipality has no role in the decision-making process.
Deadline to provide comments on the proposed tower is 5 PM February 9th.
