A Newmarket driver is facing charges after they failed to stop for a firefighter at the scene of a collision on Wednesday morning in Chatsworth.

Grey Bruce OPP were investigating the incident around 9:40 am yesterday on Highway 10 when a driver drove on the wrong side of the road cresting a hill to pass a line of traffic and then attempted to drive around a firefighter holding a stop sign.

As a result the 43-year-old faces charges of driving left of centre approaching a hill and failing to obey a traffic control stop sign.

The accused is set to appear before an Owen Sound court on October 12. Police remind motorists to slow down, be cautious and prepare to stop when approaching emergency scenes.
